Can't enable the "Use GPU acceleration" option with ubuntu

Postby Gorgoth » 29 Apr 2010 09:20

Hi there,

I recently wanted to try out the nightly version of vlc, so I compiled and install the last 1.2-git twoflower version. I wanted to try the GPU acceleration for h.264 vids, but when I start VLC, and go under settings -> Videos and codec, I can't check the box "Use GPU acceleration" (I don't know if it's this label in English, I use it in French with the label "Utiliser l'accélération matérielle du GPU")

Is there any option I should run VLC with to enable this hardware acceleration? Did I miss something?

Thanks for your attention, and congrats for the work you do with VLC!! :)

You will need a libva-enabled FFmpeg and then a libva-enabled VLC.
