Hi, I want to start using vlc in framebuffer mode, but there's a problem. I don't know how to enable controls (play, pause, stop, next, etc...). I am already using these shortcuts in ordinary vlc interface and they work just fine. infortunately it does not for my framebuffer.

PS: i am using Arch Linux, 2.6.32.9 and the latest build of VLC (tried the provided binary and compiled, no difference, even in speed)

thank you very much.

Normal controls are only available in X11.

I've found out that ncurses interface does the trick, I run it like so

Code: Select all

vlc -I ncurses <file-to-play>
and it works just fine. But it doesn't handle stuff like switching subtitles, audio and so on, so I switched from framebuffer to X - dwm and I run vlc as usualy from X. There are no windows so it looks kinda weird, but I don't mind. it's the only x app that I need in window and I am willing to live with that. firefox runs in fullscreen (well to be correct maximized). bottom line - ncurses is great, but I rather use ordinary interface, though I don't want to

Well, you could use the controls in framebuffer, but you'd need Qt4 built with framebuffer support instead of X11.
