Why do you use compile anyway. Normal people use make.

hi,
I am not sure, but test to install packages: gettext and cvs.
and use make is better.

lets take it again.im trying to ./bootstrap and it says successful.then i try to configure and it does some things but finaly it says:

checking for liveMedia/libliveMedia.a in /usr/lib/live... no
configure: error: cannot cd to /usr/lib/live
chris@debian:~/Desktop/vlc/vlc-1.0.4$
then i try to disable the 555 and i get error for avformat swscale.how to install these 2 packages? then when idisable both of them too,it is successful and i type make and i get this:
