Playback problem for GOS 3.1

When i insert a DVD and choose the file or disc tray i inserted it into, it will go full screen for about 1 second like it wants to play it. Then close.
Other DVDs like The Dark Knight don't even pretend to want to play. My DVDs aren't scratched at all, and work fine elsewhere in the house.
I'd appreciate some assistance. If there's anything you need to know, just let me know.
