vlc --intf http : nothing wrong in the log. so describe wehe is the bug

vlc ... .mp3 :

1st try looks like there is something quite strancge in your preferences if --cvlc get added. Reset your preferences (rm -rf ~/.config/vlc)

2nd try: no audio system or the user hasn't access to it. try adding yourself in the audio group

The error
LibVLC has detected an unusable buggy GNU/libc version. Please update to version 2.8 or newe
simply means your vlc was compiled against an incompatibe libc. Solve it by recompiling vlc.

Go to this post about compiling vlc for an indepth disucssion of how to get this right. The post also tells you how the author solved this exact buggy libc error.
