When will VDPAU be included in regular version?

I've seen all the instructions on manually reconfiguring VLC and FFmpeg etc to support hardware acceleration of h.264 on Nvidia cards, but when will this supported by the normal version? The instructions all seem to indicate that you need to tweak the 1.1 'Git' version so does that mean a final release of VLC 1.1 will include it?

Thank you for any information!

Thanks! I hadn't actually heard of VA API before but now I see that it's a superset(?) of VDPAU.

So does this mean I should already be able to get hardware acceleration of h.264 video if my video card/driver support VDPAU? Is VA API included with the current 1.03 stable release?

Hi Rémi,

Great news!!! Did anyone in this forum have a VLC linux .deb package (link for download  ) to test VDPAU support in Nivida ION's (GEFORCE 9400) on Ubuntu Desktop ?

Thanks for all,
