I tried to install the version 1.1.0, because of problems of subtitles in version 1.0.2 and 1.0.3. When I type "./configure", everithing is ok, but when à type "make", I have this error :

I have the same error on 2 computers, both on mandriva2009.1, one 64bits, the other 32bits.
What can I do??

Hmmm yes. It's missing from the tarballs. Either use git (or download the file from gitweb) or disable skins2 at configure time.

What's the subtiltles pb, btw ? What's your libass version ?

Thanks for the answer. I tried with --disable-skins2, the compilation is OK, but huum, when I launch the cvlc programm, I see no video (even with the --fullscreen option)
Then I installed git and gitweb from my rpm repository, and at the begining of the compilation it writes : "fatal: Not a git repository: '../.git/' ", and the compilation ends with the same error. How can I tell him where it can find the git repository?

I writed about the subtitles problemes here : viewtopic.php?t=65394 (it was on windows, but it's the same probleme on linux). How can I know my libass version? (I have no libass* package installed, I can install libassetml0 and libassetml0-devel 1.2.1 if you want, or libassuan-devel 1.0.5 too... )

ah. It's dvb subtitles so libass has no importance

After a "sudo make install", I have the interface, and can read some videos, but still not the HD DVB-T one that vlc1.0.0 can read.

there is some news. Now the compilation is ok, I can read the videos. But, I can't read e-ac3 audio. I tried to search every libraries dealing with audio (ac52...), but nothing helped me. Wich library do you think I have to install?

I have a problem with make/compile vlc-1.1.0-git, vlc-1.0.2 on fedora 9 against the x264-snapshot-2009* after .configure was run agianst the following parameters:

You should refresh your source. this has been fixed in git since the 20 of october

Got all going accept my 0.9.6 mosaic + mosaic.conf file don't want to cooperate.
If I run it it gives the following problem:
I am sure it is something in the sintax because I had this error with 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 and 1.1.1-git

vlc: misc/variables.c:777: var_SetChecked: Assertion `p_this' failed.
