Streaming Radio “No Suitable Access Module”

Postby rooster7 » 25 Sep 2009 16:22

New to Streaming Radio in general and VLC in particular.

I've been encountering difficulties accessing some O/L radio stations that others say they get using a variety of clients including vlc.

As an example:
http://goons.fabcat.org/64.pls
http://114.31.201.3:8064/

Code: Select all

~$ vlc http://114.31.201.3:8064/ VLC media player 0.8.6a Janus [00000291] main access error: Connection to 114.31.201.3 port 8064 failed: Connection timed out <snip> [00000291] access_mms access error: cannot connect to 114.31.201.3:8064 [00000288] main input error: no suitable access module for `http://114.31.201.3:8064/' [00000279] main playlist: nothing to play
I checked to see if perhaps vcl needed livemedia ... i.e., wasn't set up to read the stream by:

Code: Select all

~$ vlc -l | grep live VLC media player 0.8.6a Janus live555 RTP/RTSP/SDP demuxer (using Live555) live555 RTSP/RTP access and demux
That's as far as my “troubleshooting” savvy goes. Can someone advise as to how I can analyze this problem and fix it?

00000291] main access error: Connection to 114.31.201.3 port 8064 failed: Connection timed out
That's it. The server did not respond to VLC connection requests at all. Verify that the IP address and port numbers are correct and your network is not firewalled.

Rémi;

Merci bien.

Traceroute seems to be telling me I should be able to connect.

Code: Select all

traceroute to 114.31.201.3 (114.31.201.3), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 10.77.64.1 (10.77.64.1) 7.227 ms 15.195 ms 7 .762 ms 2 24.207.0.21 (24.207.0.21) 8.868 ms 120.586 ms 248.001 ms <snip> 15 ge-0-3-0-130.bdr02.syd01.nsw.VOCUS.net.au (114. 31.192.81) 226.498 ms 225.993 ms 225.785 ms 16 pooka.fabcat.org (114.31.201.3) 226.306 ms 22 9.193 ms 226.876 ms
Aha!

Resolved:

I got the IP from: <http://goons.fabcat.org/> There are 3 options given; one at 16kb/s, another @ 32 kb/s and the third @ 64 kb/s. I was trying to get the 64 kb/s stream... but the only URI that worked is the one @ 16.

The term. PO is mysterious to me. Can you explain what it means?

Code: Select all

~$ vlc http://goons.fabcat.org/16.pls VLC media player 0.8.6a Janus ** (.:4205): CRITICAL **: gtk_pizza_set_size: assertion `pizza != NULL' failed ** (.:4205): CRITICAL **: gtk_pizza_set_size: assertion `pizza != NULL' failed [00000333] access_http access: Raw-audio server found, mp3 demuxer selected
The onliest reference I see cites Windows. I'm on Deb/GNU-Etch.
Causes of Error 4205. These are critical Windows errors caused by missing system files or broken corrupt data.
