Can't change language.

I've come to the conclusion after many annoying hours that my VLC might have something missing from the Preferences. I've found posts saying that in Preferences > Interface there should be something to allow language selection and yet mine does not have that, either in show simple mode, or show all mode.

The es.mo is there, my system is all in spanish other than VLC, but VLC doesn't realise it and I can't find anywhere to do it manually.

I have 0.9.9a from the ubuntu repositories, installed in Kubuntu 9.04, and vlc-data has the es.mo file as I said.

Thanks in advance for you help,

Nev

Thanks. So just one more question - is that workaround (it did work), or is it the recommended/only supported way to change languages? Is my install missing something? Best regards, Nev

The proper way consists of selecting the right locale:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
