Error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mpgv'

Postby jgg » 17 Jul 2009 13:01

Hi,

I'm trying to play an RTSP stream from VLC (0.9.9a both sides) and, after a fresh configuration and install process I get this error:

Code: Select all

dulceangustia@spike:~/ffmpeg-0.5$ vlc rtsp://147.83.47.178:8554/rock_GARBAGE_medium VLC media player 0.9.9a Grishenko [00000001] main libvlc debug: VLC media player - version 0.9.9a Grishenko - (c) 1996-2009 the VideoLAN team [00000001] main libvlc debug: libvlc was configured with ./configure '--prefix=/usr/local' '--with-live555-tree=extras/live' [00000001] main libvlc debug: translation test: code is "es" [00000001] main libvlc: Ejecutar vlc con el interfaz por defecto. Usa 'cvlc' para usar vlc sin interfaz. [00000359] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mpgv'. VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
While audio is properly played I get no audio. Has this something to do with FFMPEG? I configured and installed the 0.5 version like this:

Code: Select all

dulceangustia@spike:~/ffmpeg-0.5$ sudo ./configure --enable-swscale --enable-gpl
Do I need any other option in ffmpeg or vlc?

Thanks for your support. Any help is much appreciated.

Javi

You did not enable any MPEG2 decoders in your VLC build.

From 'configure --help' I extract that libmpeg2 is enabled by default.

Which option should I add to my VLC build in order to get it working?

Probably libmpeg2 was not installed (properly) when you ran VLC's configure. There should be a warning in config.log.
