VLC can't open Flash videos (video/x-flv)

Postby bizio » 21 Apr 2009 14:08

Hi,
I've a problem when I try to open a Flash video with VLC: when I click on the file choosing VLC for player, it doesn't open even. If I try with VLC just opened, it closes immediately. Why? Thanks.
(For see a video, I keep in pause it in the browser and I go in tmp folder, where I find the file. I can open it with Totem, but I can't go forward and backward in timebar. Someone told me that VLC may do so)

My computer:
Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 on an Acer Aspire 5652 32 bit
1 GB ram - 256mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600

Try using message box and log level 2 and post the output if possible.
You can forward / backward in flv files with no probs if the files was created with vlc supported free codecs.
It seems that you use a flash file with not supported flash codecs. IMO totem play this file because you have extended codecs installed on your machine ...

You can also try "cvlc -vvv <YourFile.flv> >> log.txt" to create an extented log.
scarcely you do it right it works ...
Greetings, rh
