Cannot change Subtitles font

Hello.
I want to use another font (arial) to render the subtitles, but the change is applied only to the OSD and not the subtitles.
So when i start playing a video, the video title is displayed in arial, but further subtitles will appear in Sans.
I'm using 0.9.3. on Ubuntu 8.04
How can i do this? Please help.
