Which linux distribution are you using ?
How did you install VLC ?
from the very little information you provided it's a bug in the ffmpeg package you use.
The kernel i used is 2.6.15 ,it is compiled on Fedora core 4 .

The process has no error , when i run ./vlc and the error will appear
