problem receiving multicast stream

Postby mar1r » 01 Jul 2008 16:34

Hi everyone,

I have a weird behavior on my fedora 8 distrib with VLC 0.8.6e. When I tune to udp://@239.255.255.249:45000, i don't receive anything. When i start capturing from eth1 with wireshark, VLC miraculously start showing the video. When i close wireshark, no more video...

The kernel is compiled with multicasting and there i ran

Code: Select all

route add -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0 dev eth1
from a terminal as root.

What could it be?

Your network card drivers are buggy, if you need to put the card in promiscuous mode to receive multicast.
