vlc 0.8.6g and playlists (.m3u)

Postby crotalus » 25 May 2008 12:41

Hi,

every time I try to load an mp3 playlist (.m3u)
vlc 0.8.6.g crashes. It is the same problem
stated here:

http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10413

However, I do not endorse any non-technical comments in the above link.

Is there any patch available, or 0.8.6g was not supposed to be used yet?

Thanks.

I have just tested 0.8.6h, and the .m3u playlists are playing fine.

However, if one opens an mp3u file, using the "quick open file" option,
and then stops it, and tries to open another file, for instance, a movie (.avi), with the same quick open
file option, vlc does not play the movie but plays the .m3u file instead

Nonetheless, selecting the file using the tab "view->playlist", does work.

Re: vlc 0.8.6f and playlists (.m3u)

Hello all.
First of all I use VLC 0.8.6f on Vista 32bit(homepremium).

But the question i've is about *.m3u .
I've a RSS2.0 feed on my site forthe PSP. But I also made a *.m3u playlist for computer players like vlc.
The Playlist begins with some webimages(*.jpg), then some audiofiles (AAC/*.m4a non drm'd), and then some videofiles (SP/*.mp4).

Normally the images where shown for about a second, and then vlc jumps to the next image on the playlist. The audio & video played like it should be.

But since VLC (win) 0.8.6f the images are skipped very fast, and won't be visible. (because VLC skips so fast to next image).

Can it been solved in the next official release, that VLC shows the web/jpg images again for say a second in a *.m3u playlist ?

Thanx!

use fake input for images.
Thanks.
I used from the gui:
settings>preferences>input / codecs>Access modules>Fake> -click advanced options.

I configured 0 to a value of 1000 at duration in MS.

Then it worked(read jpg web files are played trough M3U and jump after say 1 second to next jpg in m3u playlist.)

Funny thing, after reconfigure 1000 back to 0 (default fake file duration) it still plays properly (hops to another jpg after it's showed, something that it didn't do in the first place.).

Sometimes *mp4 video has no videoscreen (simple profile mp4 for Playstation portable).

But their is a VLC update, my image(web jpg) and MP4(sp) video is solved in version 0.8.6h

So it's all cool.
