Hello I'm currently having trouble with vlc-0.8.6e compiled on an ubuntu 8.04 system.
configure string: ./configure --prefix=/opt/vlc-0.8.6e/ --exec-prefix=/opt/vlc-0.8.6e/ --enable-theora --enable-shout --enable-v4l --enable-dvb

everything compiles fine. but when I run the next command it either works, then when control-c'ed causes a glibc error like so:

anybody have any ideas what might be going on?

can you provide a gdb backtrace ?
also please try vlc 0.8.6f which is the latest released version, and / or 0.9 which the unstable version

for 0.9 there is binary builds for ubuntu on http://nightlies.videolan.org

ok here is from the 9 nightly build. did the shout command syntax change at all or something? it doesn't seg fault but it doesnt seem to want to connect to my icecast2 server.
