VLC doesn't get subtitles automatically anymore

Hello guys,

I need some help with subtitles. I have a folder with the .avi video I wanna see and the .srt subtitle archive with the exact same name, and although VLC should do it, it doesn't put the subtitles automatically. I need to go to the preferences and choose the archive I want to set for the subs, which is really simple but annoying because I have to change it every time I watch another video =/

So, is this a bug or something I'm not doing? I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and in 7.10 it used to do it right =/

Do you have verified that "subtitle file autodetection" in subtitle/OSD configuration is checked? Next, you can check that #sub-autodetect-file=1 is in your ~/.vlc/vlcrc config file.

If still not here, then close vlc, rm ~/.vlc/vlcrc and retry.

Hello, I had to go back =/

After the rm command everything worked fine a couple of times but again it doesn't recognize subtitle files. I've removed a lot of times that archive but it doesn't works. What do I do?
