This is what i get when i try to play a video file under ubuntu gutsy and vlc. After booting, it will play video files flawlessly, but then all of the sudden change to something like that. If i close that particular video and open a new one, its just green. Same with streaming media.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

try to change the video output (in VLC preferences) to X11 or OpenGL

Go to Settings > Preferences. Enable "Advanced options".

Go to Video > Output Modules. Select another video driver from the "Video output module" dropdown menu.
