Hi, I installed the VLC media player on Ubuntu and it worked good but I changed a few settings and I can't see the player anymore :shock: . I can listen music and watch videos on the VLC but I can't see the menu and I don't know what to do :?: . I've tried installing and uninstalling the VLC but it doesn't work!!!.

I really appreciate your help. :mrgreen:. I'm sorry for my English :P

Thanks, I've tried that too...

Mhh, I've done some tests...

I can see the VLC GUI only if I launch the VLC player from a terminal (./wxvlc &) :idea: .

I changed the launcher that I have on my panel checking the option "Run in Terminal" :idea: . When I launch it I got this: "dummy interface: Using the dummy interface module ..." but I can't see the GUI :| .

:?:

I'm sorry for my English again :?

dummy interface is a fake interface which is suitable to display nothing :D, change this for something else.
take a look to vlc --help for more information, and the parameter --intf

Just edit command in your launcher to vlc --intf wxwin or better change it to wxvlc

:D

The only thing I can't fix is the launcher of the menu: "applications--> sound & video --> VLC media player" but I had to create another launcher and paste it on one panel, it's the only way to see the VLC player without using the terminal.

Thanks a lot :mrgreen: .

Why don't you change the default video output ?
Preferences -> Video -> output
and save
