Install problem with OpenSuse 10.2/dependency conflict

I have not been able to install VLC due to dependency conflicts. After searching after ‘vlc’ in my Software manager, I get the following packages:

vls
vlc-beta
vlc-beta debuginfo
vlc-beta-mozillaplugin
vlc-debuginfo
vlc-devel
vlc-mozillaplugin

If I just add everything but the beta packages, I revieve the following errors:

Vlc-0.8.6c-0.pm.2.i686[20070802-155708] cannot be installed due to missing dependencies
There are no installable providers of libmastroska.so.0 for Vlc-0.8.6c-0.pm.2.i686[20070802-155708]

Vlc-beta-0.9.0-20910.5.i586[20070804-130956] conflict with other resolvables

It seems I can’t solve the dependency conflicts. I have tried to choose different packages, but keep getting conflicts. Any ideas?

My installation source is 1) HTTP 2) download.videolan.org and 3) /pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/10.2

Regards,

Lars.

Try to select only vlc and vlc-mozillaplugin; vlc-beta is the test version of the upcoming 0.9.0 and is only needed by the ones that want to test that version.

In plus, be sure to install the vlc from our repository: whenever you see something with .pm. in the version, it comes from packman and can not be supported by us.

Hello dimstar

Thank you for the reply. I was a packman problem – as you mention. After removing the packman source and only selecting vlc/mozilla plug-in, the installation completed without problems. Thank you very much. Regards, Lars.
