VLC 0.8.6 hotkey not working - UBUNTU

Hi, I have latest ubuntu and latest vlc 0.8.6.
I wanted to set hotkey mouseup/down for sound and arrows for jump in video. I can set them correctly (even if vlc stuck sometimes for seconds when clicking on the settings tab - but I used to it - it's Linux), after restart app they are there, no duplicite and still nothing. I saw in discussion lots of people like me, but nobody had helped them, ultimate advice was to move to newer version, which I have, right? Did I miss something? thanks!

Hello,
I have Ubuntu 7.04 and VLC from the repository and hotkeys work.

Are you joking? I just remove/clean and install it again and the same problem! Did you install some additional stuff except "vlc"? I can not explain this!

there is some focus problems with the wxwidgets interface.

try to enter/leave fullscreen and click on the video output, that may help.

and also try other hotkeys like 'f' for fullscreen to be sure the problem is only for the jump hotkeys, or all hotkeys.

Thank You, man. When I bind fullscreen to "q" it worked (also for sound). But there seems to be problem with mouse wheel and arrows. I thought its because of Compiz (this 3D stuffs are more buggy than my granma's ass), I turned it off, but no progress...
