As many developers doing AV stuff, I'm really glad that something like JVLC is coming up. However, it's still a young project and with a lot of work to do. I've been trying to run VLCExample.java or any other sample class for 2 weeks, but so far no success. From the jvlc page (http://trac.videolan.org/jvlc) you cannot figure out too much, and the download instructions are a bit "short".
As far as I know, littlejohn is the only one working on it. It would be really nice if him or anyone else working on that project could write a small tutorial on how to install jvlc and configure eclipse (or any other IDE). I also offer myself to do it if they provide me some nice instructions on how to do it.
I've tried with the libraries in the /usr/local/lib folder and compiling vlc from SVN with --enable-java-bindings, but as I said, with no success. I could also be good to know which hardware and software specifications are needed in order to run jvlc (in which distributions has been tested, which processors, which vlc versions)
I hardly encourage all the people with some experience to post on the forum, so we all can take profit from it and use this wonderful project JVLC is meant to be.
But overall, thanks to all VideoLan guys for the great job. I know it's not easy to keep this up-to-date.
