Problems in installing VLC on Fedora 5

Postby silverburgh » 02 May 2007 21:14

Hi,

I am trying to install VLC on Fedora 5 from the instructions here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html

but it still said there are libraries missing:

--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: libdbus-1.so.1 for package: vlc
--> Processing Dependency: libgnutls.so.11(GNUTLS_REL_1_0_9) for package: vlc
--> Processing Dependency: libgnutls.so.11 for package: vlc
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: libgnutls.so.11(GNUTLS_REL_1_0_9) is needed
by package vlc
Error: Missing Dependency: libgnutls.so.11 is needed by package vlc
Error: Missing Dependency: libdbus-1.so.1 is needed by package vlc

Can you please tell me how can I fix my problem?

Thank you.

Fedora Core 5 is deprecated since end of June 2007, FC-6 will be End of Life in one week.

Unless there is real needs, you should install Fedora 7 or Fedora 8...

Anyway you can still install vlc if you have updated the correct localtion for the official Fedora repository and if you only uses livna compatibles third part repository
(mpeg4ip isn't part of livna as it uses mpeg4v2 from Fedora - it will lead to know problem if you don't at least recompile others package from src.rpm to work with livna).
