AMR pts problems while streaming with VLC

Postby kiran » 07 Mar 2007 06:19

Hi,

I using VLC streamer + FFMPEG to stream AMR file on to a VLC receiver. On the received side if I enable the debug messages I get the below log.

[00000459] main audio output debug: *******aout_InputPlay()*******
[00000459] main audio output debug: start_date = 1172814669874048
[00000459] main audio output debug: Diff start_date = 19000
[00000459] main audio output debug: p_buffer->start_date=1172814669735792
[00000459] main audio output debug: Diff p_buffer->start_date = 122
[00000459] main audio output debug: p_buffer->start_date - AOUT_PTS_TOLERANCE= 1172814669695792
[00000459] main audio output debug: p_buffer->start_date + AOUT_PTS_TOLERANCE =1172814669775792
[00000459] main audio output debug: mdate = 1172814669249605
[00000459] main audio output warning: audio drift is too big (138256), dropping buffer

Due to large Drift the packets are being dropped at the received side. Probably this looks like a problem with the calculation of the PTS and DTS. Any solution for this?

Out of curiosity, have you been hitting the

[00000334] ffmpeg encoder warning: Only mono supported
(amr_nb@0x825a320)

issue?

Seems like the only way I can get around it is to grope amr.c directly and remove the check, unfortuntely the audio goes bonkers - I haven't found a way to force dvb:// input to be mono so..

Damn ffmpeg buttheads =]

Hi,

Yes, I'm facing the problem too (Linux FC6):

ffmpeg encoder warning: Only mono supported

when I try to transcode to amr files in .mov, .flv and wmv.

The strange thing is that it supposed that is the ffmpeg encoder which must make the transcode, but when I transcode the same files using only the ffmpeg itself all works perfectly and the world is wonderful

But using vlc-0.8.6b with ffmpeg support (and amr support via libamr-nb) looks impossible...

I'd found several posts in this forums around the same issue but never found a solution...

Come on... nobody has idea about this one?

I thing this is a point quite interesting to resolve because isn't a bizarre question at all... where are the developers?

I only want to know if I'm losing my time or I can find a solution...

Thkns...
