how to monitor vlc broadcasts?

I'm ve been trying to use VLC (0.8.5 on ubuntu dapper) as a streamer of multiple sources.

i'm using the http interface and VLM control to remotely manage the streams and everything seems ok. It happens though sometimes that one of the sources becomes unavailable (for any reason). Now, the streaming vlc has no problem with that and continues streaming all other sources.

The problem is that the http interface shows that the unavailable stream in 'playing' even if you refresh the page. Is there a way to know whether a streaming procedure has died through the http intf?
