Im sure that if you guys emailed Nokia they would definitely finance it. They've been trying to port as many open source projects to their platform as they possibly can. So far they've ported Apache, SIP, Python, Webkit (browser engine), etc...

I seriously think there's a good chance they'll finance it.

Nokia open-source side (N770) uses gstreamer so I doubt they'd show any interest in VLC, but that's not Symbian anyway.

As for S60 (or any other proprietary platform), I think no big public company will ever dare to port VLC to it because of possible legal complications (such as codec patents).

Hi,

I found this http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffm ... 30673.html, it's a bit old, but maybe the guy did something usefull, that could help porting VLC to Symbian.

I'd really like to see my Nokia N73 running VLC, because it is the best media player so far...
