0.8.6 Full screen mode under Debian Testing only Max Window

Good day all, My problem should be a very simple one for those in the know about running VLC on Linux. When I open up a film under vlc and then attempt to go into full screen mode all I get is a maximized window without any toolbar/status bar components.

I have a screenshot of it: http://catsdorule.torpedobird.com/tmp/vlc.png

Is it possible using VLC to play fullscreen without any gnome elements or window borders?

Well, I do have gnome and debian and doubleclicking gives me fullscreen correctly...

Odd, I suppose it is a configuration specific issue I have then. Is there any other information I should provide here to make the troubleshooting process easier?

*push*

same problem here since VLC 0.8.6 on Gentoo Linux using Gnome with ~amd64

Older versions worked well, though..
Any solutions avaible?

Try changing to alternate fullscreen method in the preferences for the XVideo or/and X11 video output plugins.

dionea,

I have this effect too on my PC. With Gnome 2.12, another one with gnome 2.16

I tried with X11 Video Output and XVideo, both with 'normal' fullscreen and with alternative.

Normal gives the described result above, alternative does not resize the window to follscreen (only somewhat).

In alternative mode X11, the window is centered in the screen, in XVideo, it is zoomed bigger, but shifted to the right bottom.

Any other ideas?
