Digital output on SBLive stops working...

Installed VLC 0.8.5 on FC5, did all the updates one can do. Played a DVD, the audio worked in stereo, but was choppy in A52 over SPDIF (Dolby Digital light on my Cambridge Soundworks Decoder was flashing as well). Exited VLC to research the problem, went to play a mp3 in XMMS, and no output on the digital plug of my SBLive5.1 card. I did plug my headphones into the analog plug and get sound.
Any one else have this problem? Any one know of a fix? I really don't want to re-install FC5, as that is what I did last time to fix the problem.
