Possible bug - VLC process not terminating (sometimes)

Hi - I'm using VCL 0.8.5 under FC5-64. It works great and I use it every day.
About once every 3-4 times of running it, when I exit out of the app either by closing the window or using File->Exit, the app (gui) closes but the process remains running (music playing fine). I then go into System Monitor and either stop or kill the process.
I usually have the playlist window open also. This has happened whether its a local playlist or a Shoutcast playlist.

No biggie - just dropping a note. Luv the app tho! Thanks.

I confirm same behaviour, but it happens systematically. Runing XP SP2. and VLC version 0.8.5

I find this quite annoying. Unless I find a switch telling vlc to open by default files in the same process...

And, of course, great app.

Hi,
I'm running VLC 0.8.5 with wxWidgets interface on Gentoo Linux.

I have this problem too, but it happens EVERY time i close vlc! Whether i close VLC by closing the window or by File > Exit my music continues playing.

Ok, so doing a quick 'killall -9 wxvlc' does the trick but I would like to be able to sort this problem out.

Nick.

You can in the preferences. Search "simple instance" or "one instance" on this forum

I'm having the same problem on my laptop.
I'm running ubuntu-6.06 (freshly installed just yesterday)
with vlc-0.8.5 (installed from .deb's found from link in this thread) with the wxwidgets interface.

Everything works beautifully but after I open a directory (from the main window) or add a directory to the playlist (from the playlist window), vlc always hangs on exit. It exits normally the rest of the time, the problem only occurs after opening a directory.

The problem is definitely not caused by incorrect configuration -- resetting the configuration (or deleting all of ~/.vlc) has no effect.

appart from this (relatively minor) annoyance vlc is wonderful - without a doubt the best media player I've ever encountered.
