Package VLC has no installation canidate

Postby monster » 09 Mar 2006 19:59

Hey, i am deffintely new to the linux world since it seems i cant figure out a simple problem such as this but i really cant get over this hump of installing vlc. i am currently running knoppix from the HD so i kinda took the easy way out as far as distributions go. i cant get vlc to install. i have # deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sarge main
# deb-src http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sarge main " in my source.list and i downloaded the libraries required to run vlc, but now when i try to install it it says package vlc has no installation canidate, what am i doing wrong?

I think you may need to add the sub directory, like i386. Or you may need to add the dists/sarge/main/binary-i386/ to get the packages list.

Hope that helps a little,
Jeremy
