You can't add a folder to the library in VLC 3. You either need to move your music into the user music folder, or drag files into the library depending what you actually mean.

More classic proper media library requires VLC 4.0

AS far as I understand, music was ripped to "default" music folder (i.e. John/Home/Music)

Or, uninstall VLC3 and install VLC 4?

BTW, "sudo snap install vlc" will install which version?

SO, how to play music collection from /Home/John/Music folder?? (i.e. Default user folder)
As well as use/apply all the "spiffy" features claimed about VLC.

"You either need to move your music into the user music folder, or drag files into the library depending what you actually mean.":
All Audio CDs were ripped (using Asunder or fre:ac) to: "home/john/music"... would this be the "user music folder" to which you refer??

On Linux, that would be the music directory as defined by the XDG user directory standard.
