convert to flac : no file duration

Postby rmvb » 21 Jul 2023 23:31

3.0.18 (ubuntu snap)
I wanted to fill a bug but I could not log into the gitlab
When I convert (from wav) to flac, the generated files do not have their own play length embedded (I don't know if it's an attended metadata).
When playing these flac files from vlc no time is displayed in the list. When played in other soft e.g. Rhythmbox, an erroneous duration is displayed.
Files generated from SoundConverter 4.0.3-2 are OK

Hi
Thanks, but Linux here. And this link doesn't say anything about wrong metadata.

Looks like it's not an OS specific problem because VLC seems to create FLAC files with a malformed header, hence the loss of file lenght after multiple conversions and the lack of file duration.
AFAIK the file duration is not in a metadata tag but can be retrieve from the Streaminfo part of the header.
