Hi All
Trying to decide which way to go with this need we have to broadcast sound only
from an audio mixer to 5 speakers around an Historical Village.
About 6 times a year we have events where entertainment on a main stage needs to be
transmitted to speakers.
My initial thought was to use a PC with audio input, running VLC and broadcasting it
over our existing wifi network.
Then a headless Raspberry Pi with each speaker acting as receiver and audio driver.
The concerns are that whilst within earshot of the main area speakers, the remote speakers
will distort sound due to the latency of the streaming, So a listener would hear both main & remote sound.
Just looking for some concept advise here.
Most of the "off the shelf" solutions using Wifi either require an app and use a transmitter & receiver.
The problem with that is the distances (and obstacles) involved make them unworkable.
Our current Wifi network has 5 repeating aerials to cover the complete area and on the event days we can
shut down other uses of the network to guarantee exclusive use for the sound.
