full screen with sout="#duplicate..."

Postby razvan7 » 23 Mar 2022 09:09

I am watching an online TV station running

Code: Select all

vlc $URL --sout="#duplicate{dst=display,dst=standard{access=file,mux=ts,dst=rec.ts}}"
to save the stream in the same time.

But I cannot make the video full screen, Video->Fullscreen is not grey, I can check it but nothing happens.
Only method I found to make it full screen is "Fullscreen interface" then "Minimal interface"

Also other submenus from Video menu are grey, like Zoom and Take Snapshot, and their shortcuts does not work.

Is this normal or am I missing something?

vlc 3.0.16 kubuntu 21.10
but same behavior with
vlc 3.0.16 on windows 10

thanks

The audio and video menus are only for the normal outputs, not for streaming out.

The option is not greyed out because it never is; you can change the fullscreen setting even whilst video is not active.

so the behavior I'm seeing is expected.

is there a method to start vlc from command line to display the https stream and recording it in the same time,
and behave like when I start playing the stream then press Record?
I don't see any of those limitations when I first play the stream and then press Record button.

Thanks
