VLC auto-loads srt if same name as movie. I want VLC to automatically load all SRT files in movie's folder & /subs/.

From what I’ve observed,VLC will automatically load subtitles (SRT extension) if the srt file has the same name as the movie file.

For example, if the movie file is movie2021.mp4 and the subtitle file is movie2021.srt, VLC automatically loads the subtitle.

But if the subtitle is for example english.srt, VLC ignores that. I have to load that subtitle into VLC.

Is there a way to fix this?

Well, yes, you can always manually select a subtitle file.

A lot of users have complained that VLC was too loose in matching subtitle files automatically, so a file name that has zero commonality with the main media file is never again going to be matched automatically.

Remi, I understand. Forcing that could make a lot of users unhappy.

So how about giving us the option, for those of us interested?

As already noted, you always had the option of adding subtitles manually.
