I can't build freebsd port of VLC 3.0 branch with Secure Reliable Protocol (SRT) support because SRT maximum version of library in VLC source is limited to 1.3.3 and this is too old...
Is there any plans to bump SRT version support in 3.0.x branch?

Ubuntu 18.04.
C'est même pire que ça : version libSRT < 1.3.0 !
Du coup, il faut remonter à SRT v1.2.3 mais la compile de la libvlc ne marche pas non plus (il manque une définition dans srt.h)
On peut s'en sortir en éditant le fichier configure et en indiquant une limite de version pour la libSRT à 1.5 (par exemple !)
Je suis arrivé à compiler la lib SRT v1.4.4 et à la faire accepter par la libvlc v3.0.16 : il y a un peu de bricolage à faire des 2 côtés mais globalement ça marche.

I was moving in this direction too (remove upper version check in config file etc) but at this moment i'm slightly stuck because compilation under freebsd is not a trivial process. I mean compilation in a regular way will fail with errors even on environment check stage. Freebsd have own so called "port system" where freebsds community placed set of patches and their own makefiles that at first download official sources and then patching on the fly regular config files and sources while compilation process is starting. And this devil process is simply discarding my manual changes in config file. I must write my own patch file for all changes i need to made or simply ask here to oficially remove this dumb version cap check.
