VLC 3.0.16-2 freeze my system

Postby Lehmeier » 14 Jul 2021 20:00

Good day!
I installed the 3.0.16-2 today and hoped that it now works properly.
Unfortunately it does not.
For example, when I play an MP4 I can fast forward and rewind but it does not take long then it freezes the entire system.

This problem I have only after the 3.0.6 or 3.0.8. Before it ran fine.

My System is:

Who can help me or at least tell me when the 3.0 will run smoothly again? Or will it only work again with the 4.0 (whenever that may come).

Yours sincerely, R.Lehmeier

VLC itself cannot freeze the entire system. What you describe seems like a bug in a kernel driver.

I got a tip from https://forum.manjaro.org/t/vlc-friert- ... in/73882/6 ( reinheaven ) and it works.
I go under "Tools => Settings => Video / Show settings, on all.
Then I go to "Advanced settings => Video=> Output modules => Video output module". There I switch from Automatic to XVideo output (XCB) and it works.

So there seems to be a problem with the automatic recognition.

Maybe it helps you.

What this does is disable GL. In other words, your display drivers are broken.
