I captured packages during selecting a song from my smb server.
I could record (amongst others) the following file requests - notice that almost every file is requested 4 times:

Each file request gets an immediate answer of "file not found". Therefore VLC should know, that it doesn't need to request that same file another 3 times.

To me this looks like a bug and I would report it. Any (opposing) opinions?
