Puppylinux is a LiveCD distribution that is very compact and allows saving of user data back to the CD or DVD - a new disc session is automatically added to the disc on shutdown. Pretty clever idea if you ask me.
I'm trying to compile VLC for puppylinux at the moment - i found this thread while checking to see if anyone else had done it already.
I'm fairly new to the programming side of things and even newer to linux. I'm struggling a bit. The instructions for compiling VLC for windows with cygwin were pretty good, but all of the linux compile instructions i've found so far are a little over my head. I'll keep looking though.
The main problem at the moment is with puppylinux itself. It's not really designed for compiling but a basic C compiler is available, i don't think it'll work with a complex app like VLC though.
The guys on the puppylinux forums suggest using the mandrake packages because most of the puppy development was done in mandrake. Now i just need to get unrpm working with puppy!
mark.
