how place subtitles at the bottom of a movie?

I know, it is curently impossible to place subtitles below the movie. However, when I wath a movie in fullscreen, subtitles are somewhere at the middle, which is kind of annoying - they actually stay where they are when a movie is opend in a unmaximized window. I tried several settings in preferences regarding subtitles, but they seem to affect nothing. So how can I place the subtitles to the bottom?
