gcc: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable (make errors)...

Postby verbose » 18 Dec 2005 02:40

I receive the following errors when I compile (make) vlc:

gcc: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable
make[6]: *** [libaccess_mms_plugin_a-buffer.o] Error 1
make[6]: Leaving directory `/home/bathat/packages/vlc/vlc-0.8.4/modules/access/mms'
make[5]: *** [all-modules] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/home/bathat/packages/vlc/vlc-0.8.4/modules/access/mms'
make[4]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory `/home/bathat/packages/vlc/vlc-0.8.4/modules/access'
make[3]: *** [all] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/bathat/packages/vlc/vlc-0.8.4/modules/access'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/bathat/packages/vlc/vlc-0.8.4/modules'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/bathat/packages/vlc/vlc-0.8.4'
make: *** [all] Error 2

This is something entirely new. The only thing I can think of that's causing it is a new option (--enable-dvdread &&|| --disable-visual &&|| --enable-xosd).

Code: Select all

./configure --disable-wxwidgets --enable-aa --disable-skins2 --disable-joystick --disable-kde --disable-qt --enable-release --enable-dvdread --disable-visual --enable-xosd --enable-ncurses

Thanks

It turns out '--enable-xosd' was causing the errors. It would have been nice to have xosd support, but it looks like it's not possible, or at least too much of a bother.
