Solved: VLC Closes without error or sometimes gives an error but doesn't close

I updated to OpenSuSE 15.1 yesterday and since then, VLC won't play a file without first closing unexpectedly or erroring out.

I decided to call VLC from the command line to see if there is any clue why it is doing this all of a sudden.

This time I got the following error:
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///home/trekjunky/Videos/The%20Secret%20to%20Super%20Strong%20Concrete%20Is...%20Bacteria-0HjgoyoVP7A.m4v'. Check the log for details.

I got this error a minute into the video.
And this is the code which gives the exact problem:

Code: Select all

trekjunky@Enterprise:~> vlc VLC media player 3.0.6 Vetinari (revision 3.0.6-0-g5803e85f73) [0000555d35285bc0] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. How do I fix this error?

I will search for an answer online but have little hope to find what I need. If I find something usefull, I will post it here.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Turns out that I installed AMDGPU-PRO proprietary drivers along with the AMDGPU proprietary drivers. I don't have a pro video card, so the AMDGPU-PRO proprietary drivers were causing errors. I deleted the AMDGPU-PRO proprietary drivers and rebooted. Yahoo! VLC plays normally now
