How to stop VLC adding songs to playlist ?

Hi, though from time to time I like the idea of playlists, as I am a old Winamp users I get somewhat annoyed of VLC adding each song to the playlist when I double click on them. I tried to look for the context on the preferences and on Google, but could not find the option for it to stop adding songs to the playlist everytime I played them.
Is there any way ?
