VLC not scrobbling

I'm having trouble getting VLC to scrobble audio to last.fm.

I've enabled the audioscrobbling in the VLC settings and filled out my last.fm credentials, but when I play tracks nothing gets scrobbled.

I enabled logging and found this:

main debug: no meta reader modules matched
main debug: `http://192.168.11.11:4040/stream?id=127 ... &player=12' successfully opened
audioscrobbler debug: No track name..
audioscrobbler debug: No track name..
main debug: Buffering 0%

The track I was playing definitely has proper metadata, including a track name... attached screenshot of the track I was playing when this log was taken: https://i.imgur.com/2XMHVQy.png

This happens with any tracks I try, and like this example the tracks all have proper metadata

Note: The tracks are being played via VLC's upnp browser

VLC version: 3.0 rc9
Manjaro Linux

There is a workaround for Windows users by installing the foobar plugin from the official Last.fm scrobbler in the VLC folder. See my reply on the support forum hosted on Get Satisfaction.

Unfortunately in the new version 3.0.2 the scrobbling also doesn't work :( So I just had to go back to version 2.2.6 again. Is there any time when the scrolling to Last.fm shall work again please?

I can confirm that the internal scrobbling option of the new desktop version 3.0.3 works again. The new MS Store version 3.1.0.0 scrobbles, too (available in Music settings), but seems to crash after playing the first song. Furthermore it scrobbles at the beginning of a track which is not very common and makes skipping through an album or playlist rather uncomfortable, as you have to delete the wrong scrobbles afterwards in your Last.fm profile.

By the way, VLC uses the old 1.0 scrobble protocol indicated by having to fill in your Last.fm credentials. The official recommendation is to implement the 2.0 scrobble protocol which asks for authentication with your Last.fm profile while installing.

File a bug for Winstore version.

Hi, I've also been having issues with VLC scrobbling for at least 2 weeks now.

I am on El Capitan, I had neither updated my OS, nor VLC, when it stopped scrobbling. Since reading a comment on the last.fm forums, I did update VLC, so I'm now on 3.0.8, but the issue still persists.

From my phone I have no issues scrobbling, so in general my account seems fine.

Anyone else have this issue or any suggestions for resolving it?

I tried looking for the log options, but I can't find it in my VLC.
