DVD playback: sound problem

Postby fansari » 13 Nov 2005 20:32

I am using vlc 0.8.2 for DVD playback and it works quite good. Only problem is that somtimes (let`s say an average of one time during one DVD) suddenly the sound stops but the video playback continues. I started vlc with -vvvv option to check what`s going on. I found lots of messages like this at the end of the logfile:

[00000278] main audio output debug: audio output is starving (26836), playing silence
[00000278] main audio output debug: audio output is starving (26803), playing silence
[00000278] main audio output debug: audio output is starving (26777), playing silence

When this happens only fix I found is to stop vlc. When I do this - and this is a difference to what happens when I stop vlc when this error does not occur - I find vlc processes when I do "ps ax". I have to kill them and to start vlc again.

Has anybody experience what might cause these problems?
