VLC Video not working in Fedora 24/25

Hi, I have the following version of VLC installed under Fedora Linux 25 vlc-1:3.0.0-16.20170103git8d997bc.fc25.x86_64

I could not get the video to play correctly, and this was also the case under Fedora 24 before I upgraded to 25.

After following the advice of someone with a slightly different problem with VLC I tried their suggestion, and it seems to work ok.

Open VLC and go to Tools/Preferences/Video and change the 'video output' from the default of 'Automatic' to 'XVideo output (XCB)' which is further down the drop down menu.

I have found that it now plays all the videos that I have thrown at it!

I hope this helps anyone out who are using VLC under Fedora Linux 24/25 :D

That will work around most graphic driver bugs. But that will drastically increase the CPU usage (to the point of not working on some slower systems).

Hi Remi, that may be so but I would rather have it working and put up with extra CPU useage.. :)

Hi
I just came upon this thread and the solution proposed by Sparky68 worked for me on F24. I guess my question is is this issue being addressed as a 'bug'? Is it an issue with VLC or with Linux Drivers.

As already stated, that would be a driver bug. I don't really see what VLC can do about this.
