hello everyone. after upgrading to VLC 3.0.0 ( buildd@lgw01-23 buildd Aug 14 2016 08:02:33) in Linux Mint, I no longer see any on-screen indications when I change volume or playback speed. how do i get that back?

Do you get any OSD at all? It sounds like your VLC build is broken.

No, no OSD at all. No OSD when I change volume or playback speed, or when I go forward or backward in the file. Nothing at all. Does this mean that the build in the PPA is broken?

Most probably a problem with settings or with the build. Can't really say.

confirmed on ubuntu 16.04 using the ppa.launchpad.net/videolan/master-daily/ubuntu

OSD works only when switching to non-opengl video output (e.g. xv).

Maybe a bad build?

Subtitles also don't appear.

Possibly, can't say. Subs work fine with OpenGL on Linux here.

I reverted to the VLC that the Linux Mint repo has (version 2.X). OSD is back to normal.
