Record desktop with cursor

Hi,
I'm trying to display the cursor when recording the desktop with VLC 2.2.2 and Linux Mint 18 but none of the following approaches seem to work.

• I tried adding the following line in "Edit options" :

  Code: Select all

  :screen-mouse-image=file:///home/caetano/Pictures/arrow.png
• I also tried to enable "Follow the mouse" as shown on the image below (although I don't have any option to browse and find an image).
  

Developer Rémi Denis-Courmont told me this is a known issue, but does that mean there's no workaround ?
