VLC quits before playing my VCD

Postby the snake II » 29 Oct 2005 12:26

Hey,

I'm a beginner at Linux. My System is Linux Debian with KDE 3.3.
I installed the VLC package.
When I do "# apt-get install vlc libdvdcss2" the konsole tells me:

Code: Select all

Package libdvdcss2 isn't available but it is referenced by another Package. This could mean that the package doesn't exist, that it's outdated or that it's available from another source only. E: Package libdvdcss2 doesn't have any ?Installationskandidaten?
I translated it from German, so it might be different to the original English message. I couldn't translate "Installationskandidaten" because I've never heard this word before. Literally translated it means "installation candidate".
If I type "# apt-get install vlc" only, it works. But when I start my VCD on /dev/cdrom VLC quits without any message.
Yes, I added the sources to /etc/apt/sources.list.
I hope someone can help me despite my unprofessional English.

Thanks,

the snake II

Okay, forget it...it works now (at least sometimes)
