Debian Versions

Dear Administrators,

I am under the impression the the information given at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-debian.html is obsolete as Jessie is stable since 25.04.2015

Please find an updated version table below:

- Debian OldStable is Wheezy
- Debian Stable and LTS is Jessie - current version as of now is 8.1, updated June 6th, 2015
- Debian Testing is stretch
- Debian unstable is sid

I just found out that the latest version of VLC is 2.2.1 and NOT 2.2.0-rc1 but there apperas to be no update available at the repository.

As far as I know the correct way obtaining VLC at this point is to add repositories to /etc/apt/sources.list

#videolan
deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/debian/stable/ /
deb-src http://download.videolan.org/pub/debian/stable/ /

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Cheers,
Oceanrocker

The VideoLAN repository only provides libdvdcss (which is not in Debian proper), not VLC.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. But is the package in the VideoLAN repository the latest version? The libdvdcss project page (http://www.videolan.org/developers/libdvdcss.html) states that 1.4.0 is the latest version, but the repository only contains 1.2.13 (seemingly from September 2013). The deb-multimedia repository (that I'd rather not use) has a 1.4.0-dmo1 version.

Best regards,
Matthijs
